Mother Atulya Devi graduated from the Thapar Institute of Engineering and Technology, Punjab and eventually did her Masters in Computer Science from the University of California, Irvine.

She remembers reading her science books and wondering, “In school, they taught we evolved from the big bang and at home, we are taught we are created by God.” Pondering upon this dilemma, she had many questions about the soul, death, love, the mind, life after death, karma, existence of ghosts, etc., for which she was actively looking for convincing answers.

It was only after she started visiting ISKCON temples that gradually all her questions got satisfactorily answered by senior devotees and Srila Prabhupada’sbooks. She was deeply touched by the fact that Srila Prabhupada could bring miraculous transformations in the lives of so many people from various walks of life. His dedicated disciples completely changed their life styles, food habits, speech and began living principles of Bhagavad Gita. She was particularly inspired by His Holiness Romapada Swami Maharaja, who mercifully chose to guide her in life. She became his disciple in 2007.
