A MOST IMPROBABLE JOURNEY
by Guru Gauranga Das (ACBSP)
Audio-visual presentation on the occasion of the "50th Anniversary Celebration of Srila Prabhupada’s Arrival in America" held at Faneuil Hall, Boston on Sept. 19, 2015.
In the summer of 1965 A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami was about to embark on a most improbable journey. Elderly and penniless, he would board an old freighter moored in the port city of Calcutta to leave India on a long and uncertain ocean voyage. The M.V. Jaladuta of the Scindia Steam Navigation Co. was soon to be the temporary residence of a frail but determined passenger on his solitary journey to fulfill the great mission of his life.
Through the Swami's private journal entries enhanced by many previously unseen period photos, Guru Gauranga Das, a founding member of ISKCON-Switzerland (1971), traces the transoceanic journey to America of his spiritual master, His Divine Grace A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada, Founder-Acharya of the International Society for Krishna Consciousness.
