My dearest Caitya Guru dasa - letter from Niranjana Swami

Niranjana Swami with Caitya Guru das

Letter from His Holiness Niranjana Swami's to his disciple Caitya Guru das

Sri Dhama Mayapura

My dearest Caitya Guru dasa,

Please accept my blessings. All glories to Srila Prabhupada.

I am crying. Just a few minutes ago, Visakha Priya Vrndavanesvari wrote
me that you departed from this world. It’s painful for me.

There is so much I could say. But right now, I just need to digest the
fact that you are no longer physically with us.

You were an ideal example of a selfless Vaisnava with so many of the
qualities I speak about when I talk about exemplary Vaisnava behavior.

You are an unsung hero of Boston, who was always ready to serve Radha
Gopivallabha. For so many years, if a job needed to be done, something
that no one else would want to tackle, you would always come forward to
see that the job would get done.

Although married, working full-time, living outside with home deities,
raising three children, including taking care of your elderly parents,
you were just as much a part of Radha Gopivallabha’s stalwart workforce
as any devotee who was living full-time in the temple.

In recent years, your health did not allow you to do everything I know
you wanted to do. But your poor health and physical disabilities never
eclipsed your devotion.

You were also an ideal father, husband, disciple, friend, well-wisher,
and stalwart servant of Srila Prabhupada’s movement.

I feel blessed to have known you, what to speak of, having someone of
your caliber as a disciple. Devotees, including myself, could and should
learn much from your example.

Although I lament the loss of your presence, I take solace in knowing
that your devotion and purity will undoubtedly bring you closer to Radha
Gopivallabha’s lotus feet in pure devotional service.

Always,
Your well-wisher,
Niranjana Swami
