Gaura Purnima is a Gaudiya Vaisnava festival that celebrates the appearance of Lord Caitanya Mahaprabhu in Navadvipa, India. Gaura Purnima means “Golden Full Moon”. The name signifies that Lord Caitanya took birth at time of full moon and He blesses everyone with the moonlike rays of His teachings.

Lord Caitanya is non-different than Sri Krishna, appearing as His own devotee. He spread the congregational chanting of the Holy Names and taught that one can attain enlightenment by chanting Hare Krishna Hare Krishna Krishna Krishna Hare Hare / Hare Rama Hare Rama Rama Rama Hare Hare.
